The Origin
Born at an Intersection
MIRANIQUE was created at the intersection of two realities: in an era of mass production, individuality is becoming increasingly rare; and traditional craftsmanship — especially Chinese natural lacquer art — is gradually fading from everyday life. We saw these two things disappearing at the same time, and decided to bring them together.
Founded with one belief: that what you carry should be unlike anything else in the world.
The Material
A Craft 3,000 Years in the Making
Our work is inspired by traditional Chinese lacquer art — a centuries-old craft known for its depth, permanence, and visual elegance. Natural lacquer, harvested from the Rhus verniciflua tree, is non-toxic, chemical-free, and exceptionally durable. It deepens and brightens as it oxidizes — a process of becoming that never fully stops.
